Owner-operator supply · British Columbia

Cover the route.
Skip the fleet.

Sealano supplies vetted owner-operators to courier and delivery companies across BC. They bring the vehicle, the commercial insurance, the fuel, and the maintenance. You get the route covered and one invoice at the end of the month.

Conservative estimate. Statutory burden at 14% and benefits at 15% of wage — many companies pay more, and wages themselves are often higher than the number entered. Vehicle cost spread over 21.7 working days/month. Recruiting, training, and idle-vehicle time not included. The real number is usually higher than this one.

Coverage

Five ways companies use us.

01
Dedicated daily routes
Same operator, same route, every working day. Best when the route has customer relationships attached to it.
02
Overflow & surge
Volume spikes past what your fleet can absorb. We take the extra stops instead of you turning work away.
03
Vacation & sick cover
A driver calls in and the route still has to go. We backfill on short notice so service levels hold.
04
Seasonal peak
November through January, without hiring people you have to lay off in February.
05
Contract fleet
You win a contract that needs ten vans next month. We staff it so the fleet cost never lands on your balance sheet.

Mainland ↔ Island

The Sea is in our name.

Moving freight between the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island means sailing schedules, reservation windows, and a handoff most companies fumble. We run it as one route — one operator or a coordinated pair on both sides of the strait, timed to the ferry.

  • Routes timed to BC Ferries sailings, not the other way around
  • Coverage on both sides — Lower Mainland and Island operators
  • Tsawwassen ↔ Swartz Bay and Horseshoe Bay ↔ Departure Bay lanes

The trade

What comes off your books.

Every route you run in-house carries costs that never appear on the route sheet. Owner-operators carry them instead.

Running it in-house
  • Vehicle lease or purchase, plus depreciation
  • Commercial insurance and claims history
  • Fuel, tires, servicing, and downtime
  • Payroll, vacation pay, and WorkSafeBC premiums
  • Recruiting and training every time someone leaves
  • A vehicle sitting idle when volume drops
Through Sealano
  • One agreed rate per route, per day
  • Operator carries their own commercial insurance
  • Fuel and maintenance are the operator's cost
  • No payroll, no benefits, no WCB on these seats
  • We recruit, screen, and replace
  • Scale up or down by the week

How it works

From first call to covered route.

01

Tell us the route

Start time, stop count, vehicle class, and how many days a week it runs. Five minutes on the phone is enough.

02

We quote a flat day rate

One number per route, per day, priced for that specific route. No fuel surcharge, no per-stop math to reconcile at month end.

03

We place the operator

Licence, abstract, and commercial insurance verified before they start. You meet them first if you want.

04

One invoice, route covered

Billed on your cycle. We handle paying the operators — you never touch their pay, their taxes, or their paperwork.

For owner-operators

Own a van? Keep it earning.

Steady, scheduled work with established courier companies — without chasing gig apps or bidding against strangers for scraps. You keep your independence and your vehicle. We find the work and make sure you're paid on time.

  • Cargo van, sprinter, or 5-ton in good working order
  • Commercial insurance in your own name
  • Valid BC driver's licence and a clean abstract
  • Available a set number of days each week
Flat day rate
You know your rate before you accept the route — quoted upfront, in writing, per route. No per-stop gambling, no surprises on payday.
Steady schedule
The same route on the same days. Plan your week, your fuel, and your life around work you can count on.
Paid on time
A regular pay cycle you can set your calendar by. Chasing invoices is our job, not yours.
